Podcasts For the Classroom

After looking at lots of different podcasts, I chose to subscribe to Sesame Street - Word on the Street.

Word on the Street is a video podcast that helps kids understand unfamiliar words; words like struggle, gigantic, and apology. Each podcast is devoted to one word and each podcast tries to explain the meaning of the word in many different ways. Some podcasts even feature appearances of celebrities like Ellen DeGeneres and Jonah Hill.

I plan on using these podcasts as a great, fun way to introduce new words in the classroom. I will use them as an introduction to a vocabulary lesson and also make them available for the kids to watch as part of a literacy center.
